Michelle Misfeldt
Michelle’s lifelong commitment to her hometown of Erie reflects a deep passion for community service, leadership, and helping others. Through her work in local government, education, and volunteer organizations, she has dedicated herself to strengthening the place she proudly calls home.
Building a Career Rooted in Community
Michelle Misfeldt grew up in Erie, Illinois, and graduated from Erie High School in 1990. She continued her education at Black Hawk College, earning associate degrees in accounting, business management, and marketing in 1993.
She began her professional career at Super Wash, Inc. in Morrison, Illinois, where she handled a variety of accounting responsibilities while building lasting professional relationships and friendships. Michelle later joined the Village of Erie as a water and sewer clerk before serving as village clerk from 2007 to 2013. In 2025, she was re-elected to the position, continuing her longstanding service to the community.
In 2013, Michelle became the bookkeeper for Erie Community Unit School District No. 1, overseeing daily accounting operations and payroll responsibilities for the district.
A Passion for Service and Leadership
Michelle’s dedication to Erie extends well beyond her professional roles. Known for her outgoing personality and strong community connections, she has remained actively involved in local organizations and service projects throughout the years.
While raising her children, Michelle became deeply involved in Scouting America programs, serving as both a scout leader and treasurer. Under her leadership, the group participated in numerous community service initiatives, including organizing food drives, supporting the local food pantry, and helping coordinate Erie’s downtown flag display.
Helping Shape Community Traditions
In 2018, Michelle joined Revitalize Erie’s Event Group shortly after the organization was established. Since then, she has helped organize and support many of Erie’s signature community events, including the town’s Sesquicentennial celebration, Easter Eggstravaganza, Memorial Day grab-and-go breakfast, Hometown Holiday, Street Fest, Trivia Nights, and Music Bingo.
She also served on the organization’s board from 2021 to 2024, including two years as board secretary.
Michelle remains passionate about strengthening her hometown and creating meaningful opportunities for people to connect and celebrate their community. She credits Black Hawk College with helping shape the leadership and professional skills that continue to guide her work and service today.
