Generally speaking, applying for a Black Hawk College Foundation scholarship is a simple process. Here are answers to commonly-asked questions.

When are scholarships applications accepted?
What is the deadline to apply?

Each year, the scholarship application season begins March 15, with a deadline of June 1.
In fairness to all applicants, we do not accept applications after the deadline.

 

Do I have to register to apply?

Students must apply to Black Hawk College and receive student ID number in order to complete the online application.

 

What documentation do I need to provide?

Official high school transcript (7th semester) or college transcript for transfer students required for application to be considered. Please make sure the College has a recent copy of your official transcripts. A completed FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) application is also required. Visit the FAFSA website.

 

What's the best approach to completing the online application?

Relax. Take your time. Try not get stressed out while applying. Completing the application is simple, the best advice we can give you is to slow down, read and follow the instructions. Check your information as you go through the application process. It's easy to make simple mistakes.

What should I do?

In fairness to all applicants, we do not accept applications after the deadline. However, other options may be available to you and the Foundation staff would be happy to talk with you.

Can I apply for more than one scholarship?
Can I be awarded more than one scholarship?

Yes is the answer to both questions. The online scholarship application will automatically match students for all scholarships for which they qualify, based on the criteria established for each scholarship. Students can qualify for more than one scholarship.

If I'm undecided about what I will study, how do I decide which scholarship to apply for?

When you apply, students are automatically matched to all Black Hawk Quad-Cities Campus scholarships for which they qualify.

 

Can I complete a paper application?

No. You are required to complete the application process entirely online. If you need assistance or have special needs, contact us.

 

Will you contact me?

We will communicate with you periodically via the e-mail address you entered on the online application. Please be sure to provide an address you actively use.

 

How will I know if I receive a scholarship?

If you are awarded one or more scholarships, you will be notified by the Black Hawk College Foundation via e-mail in June.

 

How will I receive my scholarship award?

Scholarship awards will be applied to your Black Hawk College account and will be divided equally between the fall and spring semesters.
