Lane Evans Commemorative Event


Celebrate the life and work of Congressman Lane Evans

Held in 2015 this special event featured a special program about Lane Evan's life and work. Black Hawk College Foundation welcomed guest speaker, U.S. Representative Phil Hare. Representative Hare spent more than 20 years working as the District Director to Lane while he served in the House of Representatives. In addition, a brief video highlighting Black Hawk College veteran students was featured.

Proceeds from the event will benefited the Veterans Resource Center on the Quad-Cities Campus and Black Hawk College student scholarships.

About Congressman Lane Evans

Congressman Lane Evans served the 17th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives for 24 years. He attended Black Hawk College in 1971, 1972 and 1980. In May of 2006, he was awarded an honorary Associate of Arts degree from Black Hawk College and was inducted into the Alumni Hall of Fame. Lane earned his bachelor’s degree from Augustana College and later earned a law degree from Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C. He then practiced law in the Quad-Cities area, serving children, the poor and veterans in our community. In addition, Lane was a great supporter of Black Hawk College, and of education and the people in the region.
